Education: Blended BS + MS Biomedical Engineering at Cal Poly

Biography

Alexander is interested in regenerative medicine because of the various therapeutic opportunities the field provides as well as how it intersects with biomedical ethics and historically and contemporarily marginalized communities. They are particularly interested in understanding the mechanical environment of cells and how cells interact with each other and the surrounding extracellular matrix in cellular development or regeneration. Upon the completion of this program, they would like to pursue further graduate school and work towards a PhD in biomedical engineering or biomedical ethics. They want to find ways to utilize regenerative medicine research in order to address health disparities and supplement community-based care practices
