Elias Khan

Class of 2022

Education: BS + MS Biological Sciences at Cal Poly

Biography:

Eli has always been curious about the natural world and the human body. He sees the regenerative medicine program as an opportunity to answer questions about the inner mechanisms of the body, while working toward concrete solutions to human diseases. Eli enjoys working with cells, so he hopes to tinker with cell therapies or the biological aspects of tissue engineering. After graduating, Eli hopes to be thrown right into a project that has direct applications for treating or modeling disease. Eli currently anticipates fulfilling this goal in an industry setting.

Internship:

Elias is interning in the Complex in vitro Systems department of Genentech where he is qualifying models of the gut including organoids and other microphysiological systems. He is working with Serah Kang to use stem cell derived models of the gut to screen therapies for toxicity so that better and cheaper drugs make it to the market.
