Paul Maier

Class of 2022

Education: Blended BS + MS Biological Sciences at Cal Poly 

Biography:

Paul is a graduating Biological Sciences major at Cal Poly. He would love to contribute in increasing our understanding of the central nervous system and in finding solutions for people with central nervous system disorders. He plans to work in research labs studying these problems after his Master’s degree experience.  

Internship:  

Paul is completing his internship in the Direct Biologics R&D team under the mentoring of Kevin Hicok. There, they are working on developing an extracellular vesicle based therapeutic for COVID-19 ARDS and other potential indications. His role includes help with assay development and execution, deciphering the biolocalization of EVs in an animal model, and help with development of alternative modes of administration.
