Education: BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering at Cal Poly

 

Biography

Alexander has always maintained great interest in the field of cardiology and became a Biomedical Engineer with the hope of designing medical devices for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.  The CIRM bridges program provided a very different avenue with a similar goal. His internship will focus on using induced pluripotent stem cells from patients with immunodeficiency diseases to generate mature blood cells. After he graduatse from the CIRM bridges program, he intends to either continue his education and receive a PhD or begin a career involving research.

After graduating, Alexander obtained an R&D position with Ceremed, developing the manufacturing process for a synthetic bone-graft implant.
