Biography

Gabriella is interested in pursuing regenerative medicine because of her passion in helping others. Not only does she want to see the potential that regenerative medicine has in helping millions of people worldwide, but she’s also interested in seeing how the technology created through tissue engineering can be adapted to help patients suffering from a breadth of pathologies.Gabriella is a strong believer that a deep understanding of the purpose of this research- to improve the health and quality of life of others- is something that should not be forgotten through her academic journey of pursuing an MS in Biomedical Engineering. Although not entirely sure of where her education might lead her, Gabriella is specifically interested in the application of tissue engineering to neurovascular disease.

Gabriella interned at ViaCyte in the R&D Engineering department. Her supervisor and mentor was Janahan Arulmoli. Gabriella performed concept and feasibility testing for new protocols aimed at improving manufacturing efficiency and throughput necessary for the scale-out of ViaCyte’s combination product. ViaCyte’s goal is to develop a cell replacement therapy as a potential long-term treatment for insulin-dependent diabetic patients.
