Education: BS and MS in Animal Science at Cal Poly

 

Biography

Jane was interested in pursuing a career in biomedical science focusing on regenerative medicine and cancer research. 
She worked in Dr. Dan Peterson’s lab on a project characterizing equine mesenchymal stem cells. After finishing the CIRM program she planned on continuing her education in a biomedical Ph.D program.

She worked with Catriona Jamieson at UCSD. Their lab worked toward developing targeted therapies for the treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML). The lab had multiple ongoing projects exploring the numerous causes of malignancy of the disease. She worked on a project examining the role of RNA editing in CML. Specifically she worked on the changes that occur in the cell cycle during the leukemic transformation as well as how some of our targeted therapies affect the cell cycle. She has a publication in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
