Sarah George
Class of 2012
Education: BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering at Cal Poly
Biography
Sarah became interested in the CIRM Bridges program after taking a tissue engineering course last year. Stem cells have such an incredible potential for cell therapy and tissue engineering, especially from an engineering standpoint. This program is an excellent opportunity to combine biology and engineering students, and has given her a background in biology that she wouldn’t have received otherwise. At her internship she hopes to gain experience and make connections that will allow her to enter the industry or possibly a PhD program in biomedical engineering.
After graduating, Sarah obtained a position as a Research Associate at NeuroGeneration, developing iPS Cells for patients with neurodegenerative diseases. Two years later, she took a position in the Translational Oncology Group at Kyowa Kirin, California.
