Biography

One of the main reasons for Tommy's application to the program was for the potential this field has in future therapies. He actually thought that the undergraduate biomedical engineering program would have a concentration which dealt with manipulation of cells, and that is one of the reasons he decided to pursue the degree.  As it was, this masters program came out and he knew it was what he wanted to do. As of now Tommy's goal after the stem cell program will be to receive some commission as a junior officer and work in one of the army's research laboratories.  He is also open to continuing his education after the masters degree.

After graduating, Tommy obtained a Staff Research Associate position with Dr. Maike Sander at UCSD and worked with Dr. Sander for two and a half years. He is now a Scientific Associate in the Cell Engineering group at Novartis.
